World Skate and the Kenyan Federation of Roller Skating organized a Coaches' Camp supported by the Kenya Academy of Sports that took place in Nairobi since Monday 26th November till 30th November 2018.

The skating sport are rapidly developing in Kenya, as shown by the growing number of young people taking up skating as an option at school, training in the streets or marketing skating brands as a way of income. The need for suitable facilities is thus impelling. Presently, only a few private schools have the means to start basic skating development.

KFRS is the national legal body governing all roller sports in the Republic of Kenya and the key to its long term goals - the identification and growth of young talents - is the development of skating facilities as well as the training of coaches and judges. Speed Skating was recently part of the Youth Olympic Games Programme in Buenos Aires and its development is ever more important in light of both Tokyo 2020 and Senegal 2022. The Kenya Academy of Sports has been a strategic partner for core goals of the federation.

A total of 25 participants enrolled for the training with Massimiliano Presti, Italan Inline Speed Skating Team Head Coach.

Mr. Kirimi and Madam Margaret from the Kenya Academy of Sports, together with the liaison person for skating at the department of sports, Madam Margaret Gati attended the closing ceremony.
