The new format of the World Championship gives strong emotions from the first day of the Senior Male Competition. Spain, Italy and Mozambique start with victories. In Firs Cup, Angola and Colombia made their first step towards the first place in their groups.

The 43rd Rink Hockey Senior Male World Championship started today in Nanjing (China), as part of the first edition of the World Roller Games, with a new format that takes the best national teams to compete among them from the first day.

The Longjiang Gymnasium is the venue where the most important games take place and where Mozambique, Italy, Spain and Argentina got their first victories today, making a first step towards the knock-out phase of the World Championship (only three teams per group will qualify, together with the best two teams from the groups of Firs Cup.

In group B, Mozambique won 5-3 against Chile with three points scored by Marinho and Spain clearly prevailed over Germany 8-2. In group A, Italy won 6-2 with France in a key-match for the qualification to the second phase.

The first day match of the Rink Hockey Male Senior World Championship ended with the match between Portugal and Argentina. On next Saturday night, it could be the Final of the World Roller Games, but now is only a game of the group A where both teams play together with Italy and France.

Argentina, the defending champion, won 5-2.

Skilled and pointy as only great matches can be, Portugal-Argentina condensate all the values of rink hockey in 50 minutes of pure adrenaline.

Anyway, Argentina-Portugal only was the first game of a World Championship and both teams still have to run a lot for being the next World Champion in Rink Hockey.
