SKATEBOARDING AT THE OLYMPIC GAMES

Tokyo 2020 Olympics Skateboarding

Two skateboarding disciplines will be contested in TOKYO 2020: Street and Park.

Numbers

A total of 80 athletes will compete in 4 skateboarding events:
• 20 athletes female Street
• 20 athletes male Street
• 20 athletes female Park
• 20 athletes male Park

Qualification System

The qualification system will be based on World Skateboarding Rankings maintained by World Skate. Skateboarders will earn points by competing in World Skate sanctioned events during the Olympic qualifying period beginning January1, 2019 and ending June 15, 2020. Full details on the ranking and qualification system will be published following IOC approval in February 2018

Continental Quota

A minimum of one athlete per continent will be guaranteed a spot for each event.

Host Country Quota

A minimum of one spot each event will be guaranteed to the each event.

Judging

World Skate International has established an International Skateboard Judging Commission (ISJC) to create an official skateboarding judging criteria and system. The committee is made up of a diverse group of National Federation and Sport Organizer skateboard judging experts. The aim of the ISJC is to standardize skateboarding judging criteria ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics based on what is universally agreed and accepted in current skateboarding competitions.

Olympic Skateparks

World Skate supports the idea of Skateparks being unique in design thus enhancing progress and creativity of Skateboarding. For this reason World Skate will not release any official Skatepark Designs for the Olympic competitions. Instead, World Skate will disclose criteria and examples enabling Skatepark designers to create Skateparks matching the Olympic standard. Further details to be released in the first quarter of 2018

SPEED SKATING AT THE YOUTH OLYMPIC GAMES

Buenos Aires Youth Olympics 2018

Combined 500mt Sprint, 1.000mt Sprint, 5.000mt elimination on track. Athletes will compete in the three races to determine the combined ranking.

Numbers

A total of 24 junior athletes will compete in 6 speed events. Age within 15-18 years old
12 female athletes
12 male athletes

Qualifications

Qualifications will be as for the combined race during the Roller Speed Skating World Championships in Heerde (Neetherlands) 1-3 July 2018.

A minimum of one spot each gender will be guaranteed to the athletes per each event.

Host Country Quota

A minimum of one spot each gender will be guaranteed to the athletes per each event.

Universality quota

1 per gender

Track layout

The track will be 200 mt banked.

Judging

World Skate will appoint both host country judges and international judges.
