SPAIN SAYS YES TO THE WORLD MEETING IN CALI TOO

A Spanish delegation will come to the great and top world meeting for roller speed skating that will take place this year in Cali. Thus stated in the last hours the Royal Spanish Federation of Skating presided by Mr. Carmelo Paniagua. Spain brought ten skaters to Korea. The Royal Federation has sitll to determine how many sportsmen will form its team in order to compete this year, from August 17th to 25th in Cali, in the World Roller Speed Junior and Senior Skating Championship.

This Royal Spanish Federation of Skating confirms by this letter, its participation in the junior and absolute categories on both men and women branches of the World Roller Speed Skating Championship of 2007 that will be held in Cali.

The Iberic team is coached by the Argentinean Carlos Lugea. And among the Spanish figures are Garikoitz Lerga, Kepa Caballero, the Colombian-Spanish Fernando Mejia, Ronan Sanchez who competed in the Pre-World Championship in Cartagena, Colombia, Joseba Fernandez, Sheila Posada, Sandra Gomez and Mikel Goñi, among others.


Last year the Spanish selection ended 9th in the medal positions with one gold won by Mikel Goñi in the 200 meters junior time race, and one silver obtained by Joseba Fernandez in the 1000 meter junior track race. In 2005 Spain clasified on 12th place, and in 2004 and 2003 finished in the 13th spot.
