Go Skateboarding Day's photo awarded by Peace and Sport

Monaco’s Peace and Sport Organization, which operates under the patronage of Prince Albert of Monaco and works for the reconciliation among people through the values of sport, awards every year the more significant and emblematic image of this dimension of values.


Over the past four years the initiative has awarded the best image of fraternity through sport or a symbolic moment showing the ability of sport to let advance peace in the world and promote reconciliation among the nations.



Peace and Sport image of the year was judged a photo taken in the streets of Kabul (Afghanistan) during the event Go Skateboarding Day, June 21, 2011. The photo shows young skateboarders, boys and girls, happy to practice this discipline in the streets of the Afghan capital and represents well the feelings of friendship and solidarity, that unite children around the world through the practice of skateboarding, regardless of race, religion, social status or gender.
