37th South African Inline Speed Skating Championships

On the weekend of 22 and 23 March 2013 Roller Sport South Africa hosted the 37th South African Inline Speed Skating Championships






Skaters, officials, managers and coaches form 6 provinces competed in different distances to claim their medals.  


In the attachment Karabo Molepo finish his 200m time trial breaking the SA record.  He went on to break the records in the 200m. 500m and 1000m.


At the 2012 World championship in Italy Karabo finished 0.3s from a medal position with 53 countries competing.  Wendy Gila has been Karabo's coach since he started skating at the age of 7.  Mrs. Gila says that Karabo has shown a lot of talent since he was very small but he was never pressured to perform and loves training, he is dedicated and gaining a lot of self confidence.  Karabo is a Sport Sience student at TUT.


WIth the assistance of the National Lotteries Distribution trust fund, Karabo and other skaters receive assisatance with equipment,  transport and other necessities.
