Last day of Road competition at the circuit of Ibagué. The “patinodromo” is full of skating schools and passionate people. The races have been quite complicated due to the wet and slippery asphalt.
All the skaters knew that if you can take the first position from the very beginning you’d have higher possibility to finish first. And so it was. In the Senior category Geiny Pajaro wins for Colombia her 3rd gold medal of the Championships. Gwendal Le Pivert in a thrilling ending won over Italy’s Duccio Marsili. In the Junior category Andrea Cremaschi finally took home the first gold for Italy. In the ladies, another historical medal was won: From Guatemala, Helen Rubi Rivera crossed the finish line in the second position just behind a phenomenal Kollin Andrea Castro.
Skaters also raced the 10k point which was postponed due to heavy rain. Nolan Beddiaf, after the exceptional silver medal of the elimination race, put on this race an incredible effort and become World Champion!
Next up the two marathons. 42km for Junior/Senior Ladies and 42km for Junior/Senior Men.
The Medal Table saw Colombia in first position with 32 GOLD, 19 SILVER, 5 BRONZE. Second place for France with 3 GOLD, 5 SILVER, 8 BRONZE. Third place for Chinese Taipei with 2 GOLD, 1 SILVER and 1 BRONZE.
