The World Skate Games 2022 starting on Tuesday, October 25th will bring the globe together in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is the 66th rendition of the World Championship for Artistic Skating. The entire world will be watching the battles play out for the top spot on the podium.
Artistic Skating is ready to impress as a sport like no other! More than 960 athletes from 31 countries will have their eyes on the 22 gold medals at stake.
With an array of competitions that display powerful athleticism and beautiful art mixed together, the Artistic portion of the World Skate Games is not to be missed.
The Free Skating competition will offer top action in the mens and ladies. Viewers can expect to see incredible jumps and difficult spins combined with high level footwork and beautiful artistry. With both technical elements and components reaching new heights, expect Personal Bests to be reached and possibly even record-breaking scores.
What is known as one of the most dynamic disciplines is the Pairs competition. The keywords in pairs are unison, strength and innovation. With a variety of elements such as complex overhead lifts, contact spins, airborne twist lifts and throws, pairs is an event where anything can happen.
Dance will offer both Solo and Couples. With several defending World Title holders, the dance portion of the World Championship could be neck and neck in several categories. From set pattern requirements in the Style Dance to compelling and beautiful stories on display in Free Dance, the dance events are assured to be some of the best of the entire championships.
In Precision and Show, prepare to be taken on several journeys. From the four people among Quartet to the mass amount of skaters in Precision and Groups stories will be told. These events are a world all their own with complex movements that are both cutting edge and spellbinding. For the first time Junior Precision and Junior Quartet will be in the quest for gold at the World Championship.
Argentina is a turning point for the sport as the first World Championship where skaters will earn points to set off the rankings for next season. The competitors in Junior and Senior Free Skating, Pairs, Couples Dance and Solo Dance will be awarded points which will lead to the Artistic Skating Series 2023 culminating in the World Cup Final.
World Skate Artistic Commission Chairman Nicola Genchi said, “Worlds is the most important competition of the year! We are all very excited to see how many skaters might achieve their best scores. They have been working hard and getting better and better all year. Argentina 2022 looks to be a historical moment since it is the first World Championship impacting the rankings for the next season.”
Competition kicks off Tuesday, October 25 at 10:30 am ART with Junior and Senior Solo Style Dance at the America Pavilion at Youth Olympic Park.
With the best athletes in the world who also happen to be incredible artists, Artistic Skating is a sport to be seen.
