WSG Argentina: Artistic, in the Inline Free Skating event, three nations at the top

During the 2022 World Skate Games Taipei continued to show strength as the leader in Inline Free Skating events. Not to be outdone, the Italian flag flew atop the podium three times. The host country of Argentina also had a tremendous evening of success as well.

In the Junior Inline Ladies event the Gold Medal was won by Sofia Ciacia of Italy. Skating to Experience/Saturn, Ciacia earned 117.28 total points to gain her first World Championship title.  Ciacia had some excellent difficult positions in her spins. Winning the Silver Medal  was Giuliana Scamarda of Argentina. With a total of 92.77 total points she skated to Hayya Hayya/Waka Waka. Micaela Soltermann of Argentina earned 75.32 total points while skating to Anna Karenina to earn the Bronze Medal.

In Junior Men Inline the Long Program proved to be the deciding factor in the competition.. Francesco Vittuari from Italy moved up from second place to win the Gold Medal. Skating to the music Sherlock Holmes, Vittuari scored 86.31 total points with some of the highest Component scores of the evening. This is Vittuari’s second medal of the World Skate Games. Yen-Wei Liao of Taipei earned the Silver Medal.  Skating to the music of Barrichestra, Liao earned 82.57 total points.  The Bronze Medal was won by Lenny Ledsema of Argentina. Earning 79.51 total points, he skated to The Nightmare Before Christmas.

In the ladies the 2021 Junior World Champ Sofia Paronetto of Italy can now add Senior Inline World Champion to her name. Skating to the music of Yellow Moon/Wait For Me, Paronetto scored 136.88 total points to solidly win the Gold Medal.  Argentina added to its Inline medal haul with Leila Aciar winning the Silver Medal.  With 103.56 total points, Aciar skated to the music of You Say with a very lyrical quality. Brazil won its first medal with Maysa Todeschi. Skating to Mulan, Todeschi earned 77.63 total points and the Bronze Medal.

With five World Titles to his name, Yi-Fan Chen climbed back up to the top of the podium to claim his sixth World Championship Gold Medal.  As the winningest man in Inline history he skated brilliantly to the music of Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence/Rain to earn 157.78 total points. This win by Yi-Fan Chen also solidifies the continent of Asia as the leader in Senior Men Inline Free Skating World Gold Medals. Antonio Panfili won the Silver Medal. Panfili gave a musical and engaging performance to the music of Il barbiere di Siviglia to earn 132.42 points.  Winning the Bronze Medal was Boyu Chen of Taipei with 78.87 total points while skating to Who Wants to Live Forever.

It was a wonderful night for host country Argentina to have a medal haul with two silver medals and two bronze medals. Taipei continued to show itself as a  powerhouse in Men’s Inline Free Skating with gold, silver and bronze medals. Of the 19 times that the title of World Champion has been given in Senior Men Inline Free Skating, it has been won by an Asian country an impressive ten times.

November 1 kicks off the Free Skating portion of the 2022 World Skate Games.  Junior Short Program for Men and Ladies starts at 14.40 ART at American Pavilion at Youth Olympic Park.
