The Senior Ladies and Men Free Skating Short Programs energized the packed crowd on Wednesday at the 2022 World Skate Games at America Pavilion. Skaters from 24 countries are on their quest to be among the best in the world.

With six elements and the very important Components scores, the pressure is on in Short Programs. The Components consist of four different marks. Skating Skills, Transitions, Performance and Choreography are scored between .25 to 10 in the Senior events. To become World Champion in these events it will take a high level of difficulty, near perfect quality of execution and very high Components. All of this combined together is what makes Artistic Skating the most beautiful sport in the world.

Senior Ladies Free Skating Short Program brought a field of strength from six different continents around the globe. In pursuit of her third Senior World title, Rebecca Tarlazzi of Italy is in first place with 82.57 points. With the World Games Gold and World Cup Final Gold to her name this season, Tarlazzi brought a new elegance to her already powerful skating to the music of Sonata in Darkness. Giadi Luppi of Italy, in her debut at the Senior level at the World Championships, is currently in second. The World Cup Final Silver Medalist skated a strong and dramatic program to the music Libertango and earned 69.01 points.  In third place is World Games Bronze Medalist Carla Escrich of Spain. Skating to the music Kahramanlarin Hikayesi, Eschrich currently has 63.61 points.

The Short Programs of the Senior Men Free Skating event offered a variety of styles and incredibly difficult elements. With a solid lead in first place is Pau Garcia of Spain.  Coming in as the defending World Champion and World Games Gold Medalist, Garcia skated with modern choreography to the music of Inner Light. Landing four triples and beautiful spins, he has 100.56 points.  In second place is Hector Diez Severino. Currently in first in the World Skate Rankings and the World Cup Final Gold Medalist, Severino earned 86.79 points skating to the music of Robin Hood.  Diogo Craverio of Portugal scored 79.94 points. Skating to the music of Ghost Ryder, Craverio is currently in third place. Long Programs will write the story on who adds a medal to their collection. There are just over three points separating the four skaters currently standing in 3rd-6th place. Among the required elements there are up to three jump combinations and up to two spin combinations allowed in the Long Program.  There is a lot of room to gain points. The battle will be fierce for every point. Every skater in the event wants to be on the podium, but there is only room for three.
