The parties are quiet now, the celebrations are settling down, and there is a hush around the Parque Olympico in Buenos Aires as the opening events for the Inline Hockey World Championships have concluded.  But there is not time to rest, so keep your party hats on, and stay in your seats, because week 2 of these games are just about to begin.  With the Senior Men and Junior Women about to begin their roll to the gold, more excitement and drama is just around the corner!

For the Junior women, this represents their highest level of international competition since before the global pandemic.  In this wide open group, anything could happen as national federations have regrouped and redeveloped.  In many ways this could be the most dynamic and interesting competitor of them all, as we can not predict how things may turn out, and the top prizes could legitimately be claimed by anyone.  It’s a new world order for Inline Hockey, starting today!  And already we have seen some dramatic results.  With the Junior Women’s group organised into one pool of 6 teams, every match counts, for every place on the board sets up positions for the finals, and a chance at glory.  Already in today's opening matches, we have seen dramatic results from the emerging world of Inline, such as Namibia.  They beat the traditional powerhouse of the USA 8-1 in their opener.  Though we have seen in the mens side, team USA can step up at any time, with a very dangerous sting in their tail.  The Columbian team beat their South American neighbours 2-0 and prove that what's happening to inline in that country is something to watch closely.  And in the last opening match of this division, the home crowd were delighted with a great start for Argentina, who needed just one more than Italy to take a 2-1 victory.  The story of a shift in the Inline powers, from the Great sides in Europe and North America, to the New emerging nations continues.  But so much more is yet to play for, don’t miss any of this competition!

For the Senior Men, they have a much clearer signal of their recent form, coming off the back of the World Games in Birmingham, USA earlier this year.  Some household names have emerged in the dominant teams at this level, so we know where the great rivalries will be.  USA, Czech, France, Canada, Italy and Spain.  They must defeat their titles, hard earned over years of competition, against the pretenders to the throne from Taipei, Switzerland, Mexico and Ireland among others.  This large division is separated into 4 pools, with a top tier and a development tier.  Starting with the Development Tiers, we have in Pool C: Brazil, Japan and Germany and Pool D: Chinese Taipei, Uruguay, Ireland and Mexico.  They all play towards the “International Cup” which counts towards ranking points, and a chance to be promoted into the top tier of competition.  And here we have the Giants of the game, in the highest level of competition for inline in the world.  Pool A consists of Italy, Czechia, the current world champions, Canada, Argentina and Columbia, who played so well last year in Roccaraso to have earned their place in the big league.  Pool B contains France, The current Gold medalists from the World Games, USA, Spain, Slovakia, and Switzerland.  At this level every game should be an edge-of-your-seat affair.  Today already we have seen top seeds USA beat Spain convincingly 6-1 with goals coming from everywhere in the team.  Watch for Slovakia to make a strong appearance in their pool, demonstrating a marker over Switzerland 7-1.  Team Canada always arrives with great expectation, but they will have to recuperate after an early sting from an outstanding contender for the finals, Italy.  They Beat the Canadians 7-1.  And as if that scoreline was not popular enough, leave it to the Czechs to beat Columbia 7-1 as well, and the predictions for the finals can begin now!  Yesterday's openers Saw Canada open with a win against the hosts, Argentina 4-3.  Brazil beating Germany 3-1, Taipei taking Mexico 7-4 and making their bid for promotion this year, and carrying on similarly to their junior team who won Gold on Sunday.  Spain won their opener 7-0 v Switzerland, and Italy beat Columbia 9-2. Czechia and France also won their openers against Argentina 6-2, and Slovakia 6-0 respectively.  This places Italy and Czech in  the lead in Pool A with 100% records, opposite France and USA in Pool B with 100% records.
