Another day, another round, for the U19 in the World Championship, with two days left for the ending of the Group Stage.
Portugal won, against Great Britain, 11-0 (3-0 at half-time) in the first game of the day and remains in the first place in Pool A, with seven points. Spain has the same points, but the Portuguese team has the advantage in case of a punctual tie, after beating the Spaniards in the direct shots, at the end of Tuesday game.
In the first half, despite the Portuguese dominance on the rink, the first goal was only scored seven minutes before the break time, signed by Viti Oliveira. In the second half, the goals came naturally, with Portugal scoring with just three minutes of playing. From here, everything became easier, with the team extending the result to the final 11-0. Tomorrow, Portugal has its day off and returns to the Aldo Cantoni on Thursday, for the last game of the Group Stage.
The Squadra Azzurra proved, in today's second game, that they still aspire to reach the next stage of the competition, after beating Switzerland by 11-1 (6-0 at half-time). The Italians started the match looking to reach the Swiss area through the outer lanes and exerting high pressure, scoring the first goal at minute 14.
Switzerland chose to play in its area, betting on man-to-man marking, waiting for the opponent counterattack. The Italians always dominated, and in two minutes, Liam Bozzetto scored two goals that brought calm to his team. Italy’s better individual technique ended up defining the match, with the team led by Alessandro Bertolucci winning the three points with the last crucial game to play, against Chile on Thursday. This game will decide who advances to the next stage of the competition, since Italy has 6 points and Chile 3.
Spain didn't waver against Colombia and secured the three points by winning 1-7 (0-4 at half-time), in the penultimate match of the day. With this victory, the Spanish team managed to maintain its position in Pool A.
The Spanish national team played from the start, exerting high pressure on the Colombians, not changing a bit its playing style. In the second half, the trend continued, with its offensive power paying off. Nicolás Zapata was the scorer of the sole Colombian goal.
As for the host team, Argentina ensured, in the last match of the day, its place in the semi-finals, after beating Chile by 1-6 (1-3 at half-time).
Despite the result, Argentina did not start the game with the same tone showed in the previous matches, choosing to rotate the ball, patiently looking for the moment to enter Chile’s area.
After the first goal, by Oscar Mora, at minute 14, Argentina’s motivation increased, and the team started to accelerate its attacks. Despite its opponent’s tight defence, Argentina managed to score three more times, celebrating its place in the semi-finals.
