Final day of the Group Stage, with the last two teams to earn their place in the semifinals known: Portugal and Italy are the teams joining Argentina and Spain, for the next phase of the U19 World Championship.

The afternoon began with Portugal beating Colombia 0-9 (0-4 at half-time), guaranteeing the first place in Pool A and now will play the semifinal against Italy.

The Portuguese team began the match imposing high pressure, high pace and determined in the attack, which forced Colombia to close its defence. The first goal was scored at minute 21, signed by Viti. The constant pressure from Portugal resulted in three more goals, closing the score at half-time at 0-4.

In the second half, the Portuguese dominance continued, with the team scoring four more times in three minutes. From the 0-8 until the end of the match, the Portuguese team slowed down the pace. Before the final whistle, Miguel Henriques scored the ninth and final goal of the game.

With this result, Spain ranked second in the group, with the same score as Portugal, as it lost the direct shots duel, after the match between the two teams ended in a tie (3-3) and will now play in the semifinal with Argentina.

In the second game of the day, Great Britain thrashed the USA with a score of 2-21 (1-12 at half-time). The European team suffered the first goal, signed by the team captain, Genaro Comeglio, at minute 18. Two minutes later, the British scored 1-1 and, from then on, never stopped towards the opposing goal, closing the result at half-time with 12 goals.

In the second half, the team coached by Carlos Amaral continued to score, without any chance for the Americans, always attacking and pressing strong, which resulted in nine more goals until the end. Spencer Berry was Great Britain’s top scorer with a total of six goals.

Driven by yesterday's victory, Switzerland won again, in the third game of the night, against Mexico by an unequivocal result of 0-15 (0-10 at half-time).

It took only two minutes for the Swiss team to open the scoreboard, by Moise Fayet. The second one came two minutes after. The Swiss dominance over Mexico was constant throughout the match. In the second half, nothing changed, and the Europeans goals continued. With this result, the Swiss national team secured a place in the contention for the 5th to 8th place. As for Mexico, it will discuss the ninth place, against the USA.

Last but not least, closing the Group Stage, Italy won its place at the semis after beating 3-8 (2-4 at half-time) Chile’s national team.

The Squadra Azzurra soon showed its intents, scoring the first goal with just 48 seconds into the game, by Leonardo Diquigiovanni. Continuing to print a high pace, the second goal came at minute 20 and, with two and a half minutes remaining to the breaktime, Italy was already winning 0-4.

However, Chile was not ready to give up and scored two goals in 13 seconds, which encouraged the Chilean team for the second half. Despite having tried to press harder in order to reach the opposing goal, it was Italy who scored the fifth and, from here, began to widen the result, winning and conquering the desired place in the semifinals.
