Today the FIRS, with the suppport of the Japan Roller Sports Federation, presented to the Tokyo 2020 Organizing committee its proposal for the inclusion of Roller Sports in the programme of the Olympic Games that will be held in Japan.

“We are satisfied” President Aracu said. “We presented a complete project that in 5 years will lead Roller Sports to be an even more important sport in Japan and we are sure we can create a consistent legacy both before and after the Games. And we know that we have all it takes to contribute and make the Olympics more spectacular and appealing. The success of Tokyo 2020 is our top priority!”.

The project presented by the FIRS goes beyond the ordinary proposal of sporting events for the Games: starting from the awareness of having an across-the-board movement of roller aficionados behind and of the fact that in Japan there is now the perfect chance to make this movement grow exponentially, the International Federation has proposed a five-year set of events – seminars, international cup, national and world championships, tours all throughout the Country and so much more – with the actual objective of developing the sporting and leisure potential to the highest level, even before the Olympics.

The 2020 Agenda has given Tokyo the chance of writing history, including sporting events outside the Olympic sports context and reasoning in terms of renewal of the Games paying greater attention to Sports & Entertainment, which is now largely recognized as the only possible future for the Olympic Games.

Roller Sports can be the perfect answer to this need: the events proposed apart from being convenient in terms of costs, building of the venues and organization of the events, can attract media attention like no other sport thanks to their ability to draw the attention of public of all ages and gender. Furthermore, the FIRS has submitted a proposal which is flexible in terms of events, number of athletes and days of competition, that will facilitate Organizing Committee’s task. The FIRS will also guarantee to the Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee the utmost availability in finding the proposal that best fits the objectives set.

Finally, building on the experience of the SportsLab in Nanjing, the FIRS will leave a strong legacy to the Japanese citizenship and to the Games: the reduced costs, in terms of both infrastructures and equipment, will facilitate a fast spread of Roller Sports; the effects on the leisure movement, thanks to the Olympic Project thus conceived, will contribute to an active participation and consequentially to the search of healthy lifestyles and the fight against obesity.

Obviously, such a complex and well-structured Project has numerous challenges to overcome: but the FIRS is sure to being able to fae them in the best possible way.

Un paso más hacia Tokio

Hoy en día, la FIRS, con el suporte de la Federación Japonesa, ha presentado al Comité Organizador de Tokio 2020 su propuesta para la inclusión de Roller Sports en el programa de los Juegos Olímpicos de Japón.

"Estamos muy satisfechos" dijo el Presidente Aracu,"Acabamos de presentar un proyecto completo, que dentro de cinco años hará que los Roller sports sean aún más protagonistas en Japón y estamos seguros de que seremos capaces de crear un legado consistente tanto antes como después de los Juegos. Tenemos todo lo que se necesita para poder contribuir a que los Juegos Olímpicos resulten cada vez más espectaculares y atractivos.¡El éxito de Tokyo 2020 es nuestro principal objectivo!".

El proyecto presentado por la FIRS es, de hecho, mucho más allá de la mera propuesta de eventos deportivos para los Juegos: somos conscientes de que tenemos el respaldo de un movimiento de aficionados muy grande y diferente por género y edad, y que Japón representa la oportunidad perfecta para que este movimiento crezca de manera exponencial. La Federación ha propuesto un plan de cinco años de eventos- seminarios, copas internacionales, campeonatos mundiales y nacionales, de giras por el país y mucho más - con el propósito de maximizar su potencial, tanto en el deporte como en el ocio, ya antes el comienzo de los Juegos Olímpicos .

La Agenda 2020 ha dado a Tokio la oportunidad de escribir la historia, presentando eventos deportivos fuera del contexto de los deportes olímpicos y pensar en términos de renovación de los Juegos con más atención a la combinación entre Deportes y Entretenimiento, ahora ampliamente reconocido como el único futuro posible para los Juegos Olímpicos.

Y los Roller Sports pueden ser la respuesta perfecta a esta necesidad: los eventos propuestos, además de tener un impacto económico, de infraestructura y de organización moderada, garantizarán una respuesta mediática sin precedentes, gracias a la capacidad de atraer a un público de todas las edades y géneros. Además, la FIRS ha hecho una propuesta flexible en términos de acontecimientos y por número de atletas y de días, que facilitará en lo posible la tarea del Comité Organizador. Además la FIRS garantizará al CO de Tokio 2020 la más completa disponibilidad para buscar la propuesta más acorde con los objetivos propuestos.

Finalmente, gracias a la experiencia de el SportsLab en Nanjing, la FIRS es consciente de dejar un legado para el pueblo de Japón y para los Juegos: el bajo coste, tanto en términos de equipos como de infraestructura, facilitará la difusión rápida de los Roller Sports; los efectos sobre el movimiento del ocio, gracias a un proyecto olímpico así concebido, contribuirán a una participación activa y a la búsqueda de estilos de vida saludables y la lucha contra la obesidad.

Obviamente, un proyecto tan complejo presenta numerosos desafíos: Pero estamos seguros de que la FIRS sabrá cómo lidiar con eso de la mejor manera.
