Dear friends, first of all I want to thank all the leaders of the National Federations involved in the Congress 2013 for their presence in a day that I do not hesitate to define an historic day for the world of roller skating: February 23, 2013.

We had a day of excellence, because of the participation and the democratic debate on fundamental issues for the growth of our sport. As you know, the delegates had to discuss in two out-and-out assemblies: the first targeted to the election of the President and the First Vice-President - and I would like to thank all the candidates: George Kolibaba, candidate to the Presidency, Valerie Leftwich candidate for the First Vice-Presidency and, finally, the elected First Vice President Armando Quintanilla. The second part of the day was entirely devoted to the change of the Statute.

This new Statute comes from the debate, that involved all the delegates, for over 7 hours, engaged in writing a beautiful page in the history of democracy in our world, both for participation and open debate. Each delegate has been committed to contribute to a Statute which, certainly can be improved, but it is an important first step in the creation of a modern International Federation.

Many of you were able to watch the Assembly in live streaming - we saw your participation also on Facebook - and this must make it clear that policies of transparency and confrontation - including the electronic one - always reward. We have even received compliments from influential members of the international sports world to have taken on the responsibility to stream in live the works of such an important and delicate Assembly. As happened four years ago, when for the first time the Elective Congress was broadcasted in live streaming, I considered that a Federation that aspires to join the elite of sport, must be founded on transparency and on a democratic debate.

After this Congress, I am even prouder to belong to this world and I am convinced that our sport will grow more and more

En primer lugar quisiera agradecer a todos los Gerentes de las Federaciones Nacionales que han participado al Congreso 2013, agradezco su presencia a aquello que no dudo en definir una fecha histórica para el mundo del patinaje: el 23 de febrero del 2013 hemos vivido un día de excelencia, con la participación y el debate democrático de temas fundamentales para el crecimiento de nuestro deporte.

Como sabéis, los delegados han tenido que enfrentarse a dos autenticas Asambleas: La primera dirigida a la elección del Presidente y Primer Vicepresidente - y por este motivo quisiera agradecer a todos los candidatos, desde George Kolibaba, candidato a la Presidencia, a Valerie Leftwich candidata a la Primera Vicepresidencia y para terminar el elegido Primer Vicepresidente Armando Quintanilla.

La segunda parte de la jornada ha sido dedicada completamente al cambio de los Estatutos.

Estos nuevos Estatutos nacen de un intercambio de opiniones que han visto involucrados todos los delegados, por más de 7 horas, colaborando en el escribir una bella página de la historia de la democracia en nuestro mundo, con participación y debate abierto. Cada delegado se ha responsabilizado en dar su aporte a unos Estatutos que, ciertamente pueden ser mejorados, pero que constituyen el primer paso más importante en el avanzar de la creación de una Federación Internacional moderna.

Muchos de vosotros pudieron seguir en Live Streaming la Asamblea- hemos visto también vuestra participación en Facebook - esto nos sirve para entender que la política transparente y de confrontación - además electrónica - premia siempre. Incluso hemos recibido felicitaciones de miembros influyentes de la política deportiva internacional, debido al hecho de habernos tomado la responsabilidad de transmitir en Live Streaming una asamblea así de importante y delicada. Como había ocurrido cuatro años atrás, cuando por primera vez el congreso electivo fue transmitido en Streaming, he considerado que una Federación que aspira a entrar en la élite del deporte, no pueda no basarse en la transparencia y en el debate democrático.

Después de este Congreso, me siento aún más orgulloso de pertenecer a este mundo y estoy convencido que nuestro deporte podrá crecer cada vez más.
