Olympic context, has given the 4 disciplines involved the chance to showcase not only their athletic and spectacular aspects but also their appeal on younger generations and has also given the audience the chance to try and practice these sports with the help and the experience of some excellent coaches.
 
For us the SportsLab experience was not limited to just this; it has been the first real occasion to concretely present to the IOC world and all the stakeholders revolving around it the potential that Roller Sports could express if included in the Olympic Programme. I am sure that, by experiencing our demonstrations in the Youth Olympics, the IOC President Thomas Bach, the Olympic Games Executive Director Christophe Dubi, the new Sports Director Kit McConnell and all the IOC representatives finally had the chance to appreciate every aspect of Roller Sports; and obviously it has also been important initiating a dialogue with them and all the media outlets present in the event before and after each demonstration and explaining to them what Roller Sports are about.
 
I would like to stress that the SportsLab has also been an important promotion platform for Roller Sports. It has been visited by thousands of spectators and many of them, after having witnessed our top athletes simulate competitions, were enthusiastic about trying skates on and emulating them: long queues of young people and adults, in line for ours, only to have the chance to skate for a few minutes together with our Champions…
 
In this respect, I would like to thank our athletes, the key players in this wonderful experience, for demonstrating to be not only true and perfect sportsmen but also the perfect Ambassadors of our Roller World and the passion that keeps it alive; they have worked every day from morning to dusk and have always welcomed with the most genuine smile every child, youngster or adult that wanted to take a picture with them, an autograph or advice on how to skate. And I also want to thank their belonging Federation to have supported FIRS in the SportsLab by sending their best athletes.
A heartfelt thank you also to all the members of the FIRS delegation and the Chinese Federation that have followed each moment of this important and difficult event.
And the last thank you goes to “Powerslide” and “Cougar”, the companies that have been by our side during this project.
I am sure that, following this experience, the legacy established between FIRS, the city of Nanjing and the entire district, will surely bear fruits in the future.
I would like to say, finally, that any doubt by anyone from the sports world regarding the quality and the entertaining aspects of Roller Sports, after the Nanjing Youth Olympic Games should simply be dispelled.
 
Dear friends, I still do not know how long the road to reach our Olympic Goal will be but I know for sure that we will never cease to try, because our spot is right up there… And no one will stop us!

Apreciados amigos,

los Juegos Olímpicos de la Juventud de Nanjing acaban de concluirse y con ellos la primera edición del SportLab, un “concept event” fuertemente apoyado por el presidente del COI, Thomas Bach. No puedo que expresar mi aprecio por la capacidad demostrada por el nuevo Presidente de la COI de ver más allá: al introducir en el ámbito olímpico un espacio  para los deportes no olímpicos, dio a los 4 deportes presentes la posibilidad de expresar no sólo los aspectos deportivos y espectaculares que los caracterizan sino también de mostrar su atractivo entre los jóvenes  y la oportunidad al público presente de tratar de practicar este deporte con maestros excepcionales.

Sin embargo para nosotros, el SportsLab, no fue sólo esto: por primera vez tuvimos la oportunidad de presentar concretamente al mundo del COI y a su entorno  el potencial que los deportes sobre ruedas podrían expresar al ser incluidos en el Programa Olímpico.
Estoy seguro de que el presidente del COI, Thomas Bach, el Director Ejecutivo de los Juegos Olímpicos, Christophe Dubi, el nuevo director deportivo, Kit McConnell y todos los miembros del COI, durante sus visitas, finalmente tuvieron la oportunidad de apreciar todos los aspectos de los deportes sobre ruedas: y por supuesto, fue muy importante el haber tenido la oportunidad de hablar durante y después de las actuaciones con muchos miembros del COI y los medios de comunicación presentes, para explicar lo que realmente son los deportes sobre ruedas.

También me gustaría señalar que el SporsLab representó una oportunidad importante para la promoción de los Roller Sports. Miles de espectadores visitaron el SportLab cada día y muchos de ellos, después de haber visto a nuestros mejores atletas simular la competencia, quisieron ponerse los patines y trataron de emularlos: tuvimos largas colas de niños en fila durante horas sólo para tener la oportunidad de patinar por unos minutos con nuestros Campeones ...

En este sentido quisiera agradecer a todos nuestros Atletas, que son los principales protagonistas de esta importante experiencia, por haber demostrado que no solo son Atletas reales en todos los sentidos, si no también los embajadores perfectos de nuestro mundo y de la pasión que lo anima: todos los días estaban ocupados desde la mañana hasta la noche y  siempre recibieron con una sonrisa a cada niño o adulto que hubiese querido tomarse una foto con ellos, obtener un autógrafo o consejo sobre la técnica para poder patinar. Y agradezco también a sus Federaciones de pertenencia por haber apoyado la FIRS en el SportsLab, enviando los mejores atletas.
Un agradecimiento de corazón a todos los directores de la delegación de FIRS y a los directores de la Federación de China, que siguieron cada momento de este importante y delicado traslado.
Un ultimo gracias va a  las empresas "Powerslide" y a "Cougar Skates" por haber sido nuestros socios y por habernos apoyado en este proyecto.
Estoy seguro de que después de esta experiencia, el legado que hemos creado con la ciudad de Nanjing, y con todo el distrito, dará sin duda excelentes frutos en el futuro.
Para concluir estoy cierto de que si había alguien del mundo del deporte que tenía dudas sobre la capacidad de los Roller Sports para ser un deporte espectacular y de calidad, después de los Juegos Olímpicos Juveniles 2014 de Nanjing ,estas dudas no debería tenerlas más.

Queridos amigos, no sé aun cuánto sea  largo el camino para alcanzar la meta olímpica .... pero sé a ciencia cierta que nunca vamos a dejar de seguirla porque nuestro lugar está ahí .... y nadie nos puede parar!
