India makes history with two golds in the 1000m (Junior Men and Senior Men). What a breakthrough for the nation and a boost for inline speed skating.

Last day of track racing at the 2025 World Championships in Beidahie. The program featured the 1000m and the Relays, two of the most spectacular and emotional events of the competition.

The 1000m is one of the most unpredictable races in speed skating, where tactics, endurance, and explosive sprints collide. It is a distance that brings together both sprinters with endurance and long-distance skaters with a powerful finish.

The Relays closed the track program with the excitement of racing together as one. Overtakes at the entrance and exit of the curves, rhythm changes, and strategy made this finale a breathtaking show.

1000m

Junior Women

The Italians controlled the pace early on, but a decisive attack from the Chilean skater changed the rhythm of the race. Colombia responded in the last lap with a stunning overtake, securing the top spots with Manuela Saldarriga and Dairy Londono Cardenas, while Lyssa Vansteenkiste, Belgium claimed bronze, its first medal of the Championships.

Junior Men

A tactical race with constant glances behind. Then, with two laps to go, the Indian skater Krish Sharma launched a powerful attack, taking the lead with a solid gap and securing a historic gold for India. The highlights do not end here. In second place we find a strong Lu Dengbo who won silver for China! In the third place Gabriel Reyes from Chile.

Senior Women

A controlled race with Minjeong Park from Korea and Pei-Yu Shih, Chinese Taipei, trying to dictate the pace. But once the well-known Colombian duo moved to the front, there was no stopping them: a commanding 1–2 with Kollin Castro and Maria Fernanda Timms. Bronze well earned by Pei-Yu Shih.

Senior Men

History was made again in the Senior category, and this time is gold. After his bronze in the 500m, the Indian skater, Anandkumar Velkumar, confirmed himself as one of the strongest athletes of the championships. Duccio Marsili of Italy tried to anticipate with an early sprint, but on the last lap, the Indian surged past, flying to the finish line to claim a gold of enormous significance for him and his country. Duccio is silver and Julio Mirena Ortiz, Paraguay.

Relays

Junior Women

China started strong, staying in the lead for much of the race firing up the home crowd. But when Colombia attacked with six laps to go, the pace shifted. A missed exchange cost China precious ground, leaving Colombia to skate to gold, followed by Italy with a strong comeback and Chinese Taipei in the final sprint.

Junior Men

Colombia controlled the race from the start, with China showing strength and confidence in this race. In the final laps all the teams were lined up closely, but it was the last corner that brought the biggest surprise. From behind Chile came flying onto the finish line, overtaking everyone and stunning their rivals. Chile claimed the gold medal, followed by China in second and Colombia in third.

Senior Women

From the very first laps, lead changes made the race exciting. But when Colombia accelerated, the others were left behind. The battle for silver and bronze went down to the wire with Chinese Taipei, in second, and France in third. Fun fact: same podium as last year’s World Championships.

Senior Men

A thriller from start to finish, with breathtaking relays at full speed. The final straight brought drama: Colombia crossed first in a one-to-one battle against Italy, but after a review of the last straight, the jury relegated Colombia, declaring Italy World Champion for the second consecutive year.

Tomorrow is a rest day for the athletes, with road circuit testing outside the arena. Road races will begin on the 17th with the explosive 100m.
