Just outside the massive indoor arena, the 500m road circuit came alive with the 100m sprint, the race where the world’s fastest skaters battle head-to-head for gold. Two new countries entered the game, Iran and Egypt, adding even more excitement to the competition.

The day unfolded with qualification rounds leading to the finals on the straight three-lane track.

In the Junior Women’s category, Sofia Paola Chiumiento confirmed herself once again as the fastest junior, taking her third consecutive title. Her teammate Asia Negri claimed the silver medal, showing she’s getting closer and closer to the top. Yicen Zhuo brought China another podium finish with bronze.

In the Junior Men’s race, Cristian Scassellati of Italy repeated his victory from last year on home soil, proving once again he is the one to beat. Belgium’s Stan Beelen finished just behind him, while Iran got its first World Championship medal thanks to Amirmahdi Yahaghi in third.

The Senior Women’s event saw Geiny Pajaro of Colombia make a brilliant comeback, winning gold after two years away from the World Championships. Haila Brunete of France took silver, while bronze went to Colombia’s Kollin Castro.

In the Senior Men’s final, Spain’s Jhoan Guzman was crowned the fastest man on skates, stopping the clock at an astonishing 9.702. Italy’s Vincenzo Maiorca grabbed silver, with Germany’s Ron Pucklitzsch in third.
