Germany’s Noah Sing and Lisa Schmid closed out the 2025 Inline Alpine World Cup season in style, taking the slalom titles at the final event in Ikšķile, Latvia.
Local heroes Dāvis Zvejnieks and Georgs Šmalcs both secured top-10 finishes, placing seventh and eighth respectively in front of the home crowd.
The World Cup finals were held from July 25–27 on Peldu Street in Ikšķile.
On Sunday, the season’s last slalom event unfolded under sunny skies, with both runs completed in ideal dry conditions. In the men’s race, Sing set the pace from the very first run, edging fellow German Jorg Bertsch by 0.07 seconds.
Luca Goekeler followed in third, nearly a full second behind. Zing strengthened his lead in the second run to finish 0.55 seconds ahead of Goekeler, who moved up to second place, while Bertsch completed the podium in third, 0.80 seconds back.
Latvia’s Zvejnieks placed seventh in both runs to secure the same overall ranking, while Šmalcs finished eighth after taking eighth and tenth in his two runs. Zvejnieks trailed the winner by 3.36 seconds, and Šmalcs by 4.24. Renārs Lazdiņš finished 12th, and Valters Bērziņš placed 17th.
In the women’s event, Germany’s Manuela Schmohl led after the first run by a mere 0.06 seconds over Schmid, with Italy’s Lorenza Cesaris close behind. But Schmid delivered a brilliant second run, nearly half a second faster than her rivals, to claim victory. Schmohl settled for second, 0.54 seconds back, while Cesaris finished third, 0.76 seconds behind.
Latvia’s best result came from Estere Ausekle, who finished 13th overall.
The 2025 World Cup Finals in Ikšķile is organized by sports club Virsotne in collaboration with the Latvian Inline Skating Federation. The event is supported by the Ministry of Education and Science, Ogre Municipality, the City of Ikšķile, and partners including My Skin, K-Uguns, Skibox, Sporta Darbnīca, Kokmuiža, Gardu Muti, Herkuless, MF Sports, and Svētavots. The event is co-financed by the Latvian state budget.
