Solo Dance skaters stole the spotlight at the World Artistic Skating Championships, dazzling a packed house at the Beijing Yanqing District Comprehensive Gymnasium in Beijing, People’s Republic of China. The stands were bursting, the buzz was electric, and it was clear this was going to be a sensational night of skating.
For 69 years, artistic skaters from around the world have gathered to determine the best in the sport. This year marked a historic milestone as, for the first time ever, the Dutch national anthem was played to honor a World Champion. Quinty Van Lare of the Netherlands captured the 2025 Junior Solo Ladies World Dance Champion title with a total of 149.54 points. Performing an exquisite program to The Legend of the Terracotta Warriors, Van Lare arrived in China ranked number one in the World Skate standings and now adds her name to the history books with this gold medal victory. Mariaclaudia Parziale of Italy earned the silver medal with 144.01 points, delivering an intriguing free dance to Scheherazade. Ema Sousa of Portugal completed the podium, taking bronze with 140.01 points.
In the Junior Mens Solo Dance division, Yuri Allegranti of Italy overcame a rough start to the season to successfully defend his World title, scoring 148.48 points with his elegant and expressive program Persistence of Memory. Known as a dynamic and expressive skater, Allegranti once again showed his ability to combine artistry with precision, impressing both judges and spectators alike. His total score also broke his own previous world record, setting a new benchmark in junior men’s competition. World Skate rankings number one Jeshua Folleco earned the silver medal with a captivating performance to Ansiedad Silenciosa, while Joel Ribeiro Diaz of Spain took bronze, earning 143.45 points for his futuristic themed program Metalica.

Senior Ladies Solo Dance saw Italy’s Roberta Sasso claim her third consecutive gold medal in spectacular style. Performing to Billie Eilish, Sasso delivered a modern and captivating routine that once again proved why she is considered the best in the world. Her score of 161.79 points not only secured the title but also broke her own world record. Paraguay’s fabulous Erika Alarcon dazzled the crowd with her graceful performance to Vivaldi’s Winter, earning the silver medal with 151.03 points. Close behind was Italy’s Caterina Artoni, who captured bronze with 150.04 points. Skating with heartfelt emotion to her program The Man in the Pink Pants, Artoni lit up the arena and stepped onto the podium with pride.
If there was one word to describe the Senior Mens Solo Dance event, it would be wow. The men closed the night and it was extraordinary. By the end of the night it was number one in the World Skate Rankings, Brayan Carreño of Colombia, claiming the gold medal. Skating with passion to the music of Sueños Roto, Carreño earned 161.22 points and brought the crowd to a standing ovation with his emotional and powerful performance. His total score also set a new world record in the Senior Mens Solo category, marking a defining moment in his career. Italy’s Gherardo Altieri, a familiar face on podiums, won the silver medal with 161.09, only fractions of a point off the top spot. Altieri performed with commanding ease to Labyrinth Medley. Rounding out the podium was Raoul Allegranti of Italy with the bronze and 149.58 points. His free dance to the Winner Takes it All is the perfect example of skating with joy. It is worth noting that the top seven men all had Level 4s on their technical elements, which is incredible. The Allegranti brothers are leaving Beijing with three medals among them.

Beyond the numbers, it stood as a shining example on the world’s biggest stage of how the global collective effort to elevate the sport has truly come together.
