The qualifying phase of the Senior Female and Under 20 Male World Championship ended today at the World Roller Games in Nanjing (China) with a lot of surprising results, particularly among the ladies. Tomorrow (Wednesday, August 30th) the knock out phase starts with the quarter finals.

SENIOR FEMALE
Two teams won every played game: Spain in group A and Argentina in group B. While the defending champion had no problems during these first days of competition, Argentina had to struggle today to win against Chile in a game decided by the only goal scored.
Behind Spain in group A, Germany got the 2nd place prevailing over France thanks to a better goal average. The most unattended results came from group B in which Portugal (finalist last year in Iquique) ended at the 4th place after having lost the game of today against a surprising Italian team. Despite the defeat in the game of today, the 2nd place went to Chile which won against Italy and tied with Portugal.
Due to these standings, the final of Iquique between Spain and Portugal will be played tomorrow as quarter finals. The other pairings are: Chile vs France, Argentina vs USA and Italy vs Germany.

UNDER 20 MALE
Only Portugal ended the 1st phase with a sequence of three wins, leading the group A. The 2nd place of the group is for Colombia that surprisingly won the head-to-head match against Chile. England closed the 1st phase as 4th.
Spain got the 1st place in group B, but suffered a hard defeat today against Italy that let the "Azzurri" to avoid the last place of the group, taken by France. The 2nd place is for Argentina that conquered the same points of Spain, but lost the head-to-head match.
The quarter finals of tomorrow are: Spain vs England, Argentina vs Chile, France vs Portugal, Italy vs Colombia.
