Rink Hockey is gathering in Asunción for the 2026 World Skate Games to compete in three World Championships. The World Championship Women and the World Championship Under 19 Men will take place starting October 4. The World Championship Men will begin on October 12, one of the most important world competitions at the entire World Skate Games. This is a great opportunity to introduce one of the roller sports with the longest history to a nation hosting such important competitions on these international stages for the first time.
The World Championship Women will feature 11 teams in the qualifying round, divided into two groups: Group A: Argentina, France, Chile, Spain, and Switzerland; Group B: Brazil, Colombia, India, Italy, Mexico, and Portugal. Spain are the reigning champions, having won the title in 2024 in the final against Portugal, while Argentina won in 2022.
The games will be held at COP Arena, a venue with a capacity of over 2,500 spectators, at the heart of the World Skate Games competitions. From 11:00 to 22:00 each day, five qualifying matches will be played, followed by the determination of the top two teams in each group, who will compete for medals on October 9 and 10. The grand final, with the gold medal at stake, will be played on October 10 at 20:00 (local time)
The Under 19 competition will be held concurrently at the SND Arenita venue. Eight teams will compete in this World Championship, divided into two groups: Group A: Argentina, Italy, Spain, and Switzerland; Group B: Colombia, France, India, and Portugal. Spain also dominated this competition, once again beating Portugal, while Argentina were the winners in 2022.
The qualifying round will begin on October 4 and end on October 6. The quarterfinals are scheduled to start on October 8, followed by the semis and then the finals on October 10. The gold medal final will be played at 5.45pm.
