Fast, technical and full of adrenaline: the 2026 Skate Cross World Championships at the World Skate Games Asunción 2026 delivered packed stands, stadium-style support and finishes decided in the very last metres.
The BMX track of the Paraguayan Olympic Committee (COP) was the stage for one of the most spectacular disciplines of the World Skate Games Asunción 2026. Technically demanding, with rollers, berms and jumps that left no room for mistakes, the course gave riders an adrenaline-packed test and the crowd a show with huge visual impact.
From October 1 to 4, the races were lightning fast: heats of riders racing shoulder to shoulder, overtakes in the final turns and results often decided by fractions of a second. Through it all, two nations set the pace: France and Italy led the Games, sharing the six titles on offer.
France: a collective show of strength
France confirmed its tradition in the discipline with four gold medals and a total of eleven podium places. In Senior Men, Mael Roudaut led a French one-two ahead of Cyril Champagne, with Senegal's Dame Fall completing the podium.
The French youngsters were just as dominant. Noelie Gontier and Celeste Grenon-Granger took first and second in Junior Women, with Uliana Dudina in third. In Junior Men, Adonis Vicq won ahead of teammate Mohamed-Amine Lellouchi, while Italy's Antonio Paoletta claimed bronze.
In Men's Team Cross, Oscar Briex, Cyril Champagne and Mael Roudaut sealed the French domination with gold, ahead of France's second team, Adonis Vicq and Mohamed-Amine Lellouchi, and Italy's Luca Borromeo and Antonio Paoletta.
Italy: emotion until the final stretch
The most emotional moment of the Championships came in the Senior Women's final. With the stands full and the crowd cheering like in a stadium, Italy's Ludovica Rimondi found the decisive push on the final stretch to take gold, ahead of France's Marie Lecomte and her teammate Matilde Arosio.
Italy doubled its celebrations in Women's Team Cross, where Matilde Arosio, Alice Delfino and Ludovica Rimondi won gold ahead of two French teams: Ornella Faria, Mayrin Burasovitch and Marie Lecomte in second, and Celeste Grenon-Granger and Noelie Gontier in third.
From the first heats to the last finals, Skate Cross showed in Asunción why it is one of the most exciting disciplines in the World Skate family: speed, contact, strategy and a crowd that lived every single race.
