" FIRS is going through a time of great challenges and great renovations that requires total concentration and involvement of its management. For this reason, though with great regret , I have decided to leave the CIC to devote myself entirely to the FIRS General Secretariat: I have dedicated my life to speed skating , first as an athlete and then as a manager, but I think this is the time to optimize all energies in order to take full advantage of the possibilities that are developing and to achieve the goals, which FIRS aims at ."
The FIRS President , Sabatino Aracu , wanted to thank Roberto Marotta who "has made an action of great responsibility , especially because I know how much he is related to the world of speed skating and what it represents for him. Fortunately, we are not losing Roberto, but we're gaining a valuable person who, as FIRS Secretary General will be close not only to the world of speed skating but to all the Roller Sports in order to ensure standards of quality and organization that allow our sport to grow as it deserves."

Roberto Marotta renuncia al CIC para dedicarse a tiempo completo a la Secretaria General de FIRS.
Durante la reunión del Buro Ejecutivo que se celebró en Roma el 13 y 14 de febrero, el secretario general Roberto Marotta ha anunciado su decisión de dejar el Comitè Internationale de Course del cual ha sido el principal punto de referencia: FIRS está atravesando un momento de grandes retos y de renovación que requiere una concentración total y la participación de su propia gestión. Por esta razón, aunque con gran pesar, he decidido dejar el CIC para dedicarme por completo a la Secretaria General de FIRS: He dedicado toda mi vida al patinaje de velocidad, al principio como atleta y después como director, pero creo que este es el momento justo para canalizar todas las energías con el fin de sacar el máximo provecho al despliegue de oportunidades que se presentan y lograr los objetivos que FIRS aspira."
El Presidente de FIRS, Sabatino Aracu, ha querido agradecer a Roberto Marotta: “tuvo un gesto de gran responsabilidad, sobre todo porque se muy bien cuanto está vinculado al mundo del patinaje de velocidad y todo lo que para el representa. Afortunadamente para nosotros, no estamos perdiendo Roberto mas estamos ganando una figura valiosa que como secretario General de FIRS, tendrá que estar cerca no solo del mundo de la Velocidad si no también a todas las otras disciplinas de los Roller Sports con el fin de asegurar la calidad y el orden que permitirá a nuestro deporte crecer como se lo merece.”
