Last February, for the first time, the Argentinian and Chilean Federations organized International Artistic Skating Workshops in collaboration with FIRS, to improve the development of this discipline in the two countries and in the whole Latin America.
The courses, both for athletes and trainers, were conducted by Sara Locandro with the help of Andrea Aracu, as a demonstrator and a trainer for the single, and, only in Argentina, of Lorenza Residori for the dance.
From February 7th to 14th, the trainers courses were held every morning in Santiago, at the Chilean Olympic headquarters, and they ended with different national levels exams.
Every afternoon, the Skating Rink of the “Estadio Nacional” in Santiago hosted the athletes courses.
From February 17th to 19th, Buenos Aires hosted the international workshop for trainers which was attended by 700 people.
Buenos Aires was also the stage for the athletes workshop from February 20th to 22nd which took place at the Club Atletico San Lorenzo de Almagro. During the workshop, the Italian trainer Lorenza Residori conducted the single and also the solo dance and dance couple specialities.
From February 25th to 27th the workshop moved then to the city of Cordoba (Argentina).
Other workshops are underway and FIRS is planning to organize more of them. This kind of cooperations between FIRS and national federations are part of a project to improve the diffusion of Roller Skating in South America and in other parts of the world.
The next artistic workshop for trainers and athletes will be hosted in Roccaraso from 28th to 31st of August 2014.
