Sporting sustainability advocacy Sports For Nature have selected the World Skateboarding Tour's 2025 Rome event partnership with e-transport leviathan Lime as a best-practice case study for how sporting events can become greener by lessening their environmental footprint.

WST Rome 2025 took place over a fortnight at two separate locations around the Eternal city, and with hundreds of participants in each- not to mention family members, coaching staff and so on- there was a clear opportunity to provide a modular transport solution which removed the need for vehicles to shuttle individuals around both the city centre and seafront district of Ostia.

With Lime providing heavily-discounted rides for all registered attendees of both events, participants not only had a non-polluting autonomy of movement, but the wherewithal to explore the city at short notice.

In particular, Ostia's waterfront cycle lanes allowed athletes to safely traverse the miles-long coastline of the Tyrrhenian Sea and experience Italian beach culture on Lime's fleet of e-scooters which were constantly available both at the event venues and accommodation locations for ease and convenience of movement.

We are confident that everyone who availed of World Skate's Lime partnership at WST Rome 2025 will agree that not only did it make for a much greener event, but it also opened up the opportunity to be spontaeous and carefree in enjoying one of the world's great cities as part of their World Skateboarding Tour exeprience.
