The wait is almost over! From September 13 to 21, 2025, the world’s fastest skaters will gather in Beidaihe, China, for the Speed Skating World Championships. After the unforgettable World Games just one month ago, the excitement continues with nine days of pure speed and power.
Beidaihe, famous beach resort in the city of Qinhuangdao, is ready to welcome the global skating family. At the heart of the action is the Beidaihe International Roller Skating Center, a true jewel of the sport with its 200m indoor track, modern facilities, and road circuit just outside. It’s the perfect stage for breathtaking races and historic performances.
Over 40 nations are expected, with strong delegations from China, India, Chinese Taipei, and Korea, as well as the established skating powerhouses of Colombia, Italy, France and the USA, who will be arriving with full teams.
Fans will see today’s champions fighting for more gold: In the sprint races, Jhoan Sebastian Guzman (ESP), the current king of speed and winner of five gold medals at the World Games, will face tough competition from the Italian frecce azzurre Vincenzo Maiorca and Duccio Marsili, both eager to repeat the victories they claimed last year at the World Skate Games in Italy.
In the women’s races, the Colombian team remains the squad to beat, with power and consistency across all distances. In the sprint races, skaters like Maria Fernanda Timms and the returning Geiny Pajaro will take on a strong international field, including the lightning-fast Dalia Soberanis (GUA), Italy’s Asja Varani, and France’s Haila Brunet. While in the long-distance races, Gabriela Rueda (COL) the “reina” of the women’s field, continues to be the one to beat, though Marine Lefeuvre (FRA) and Gabriela Vargas (ECU) are hungry for medals and ready to challenge her dominance. From Chinese Taipei team also Yi Hsuan Liu and Meng-Chi Li are expected to be in the battle.
In Senior Men, even without the strong Belgian team, the favorite Juan Mantilla (COL) will face serious opposition from Spain’s Patxi Peula, still as motivated as ever to add more medals to his impressive collection. The Italian skaters, Daniel Niero and Giuseppe Bramante, driven by the strong determination, will also fight with all their strength in the hope of reaching the top of podium.
From the host team, China, many new faces and surprises are expected, but also a strong result from their most experienced international skater, Guo Dan.
