At the beautiful indoor track of Beidaihe, the second day of the World Championships delivered pure adrenaline. The program featured the spectacular 500m sprint and the emotional elimination races.
The 500m highlighted how racing lines, quick reflexes and decisive overtakes make the difference on this wide track, where passing is always possible.
In the elimination races, teamwork played a key role, with strategies unfolding lap after lap.

Junior Women
Two against two, Italy versus Colombia. What a race! A fast start from Paola Sofia Chiumiento put her in the lead right away, allowing her to control every corner and line. She resisted every attack from her rivals and crossed the finish line first, claiming her second title of the championships ahead of Colombia’s María Rodríguez Maldonado and Gisell Caicedo.
Junior Men
Cristian Scassellati, Italy, dominated the race, holding off his rivals all the way to the finish. The race ended in a three-way photo finish, with Scassellati taking the gold, silver going to Kim Jichan from Korea, and bronze to Wilmar Charris, Colombia.
Senior Women
No surprises here, as the Colombian duo took the lead from the start and kept a slight gap over the rest of the field. Kollin Castro claimed the victory, followed by teammate María Fernanda Timms, with Italy’s Alice Sorcionovo completing the podium.
Senior Men
Jhoan Guzmán, Spain, showed what he’s made of! Power and determination to win this world title made the difference. He took a commanding victory ahead of fellow Colombian John Tascon. The surprise came from India’s Velkumar Anandkumar, who claimed bronze, though after his strong performances earlier in the day, he had already proven his talent.
10000m elimination
Junior Women
The race opened with the double elimination, and the big pack was always in more lanes. Early on, a crash involving around ten skaters shook up the race. Colombia kept the pace at the front, and as the eliminations progressed, the tempo settled. In the final kilometer, tension rose, and the speed increased. With two laps to go, the Colombian skaters shifted gears and launched their decisive move, securing the victory. Manuela Rodríguez took the win, Mariana Vitola Vasquez silver with France Maiwenn Julou claiming third place.
Junior Men
The pace stayed steady until a crash with 30 laps to go woke up the pack and sparked a change of rhythm. Colombia and Ecuador teams took turns at the front, with the Korean and Chinese Taipei skaters right behind them. In the last five laps it turned into a head-to-head battle between Juan Felipe Pinilla, Colombia and Joaquin Loyola Cavalieri from Ecuador, but that very fight opened the door for an early sprint from Korea with Byungho Kang. The move caught everyone off guard and secured the title!
Senior Women
The race started at a regular pace with plenty of contact in the pack. Colombia team took control at the front, while France and Ecuador stayed well-organized behind. With two laps to go, Luz Karime Garzón, who had pulled the pace for most of the race, launched the sprint for her teammate Gabriela Rueda. The Colombian duo powered to gold and silver with a solid gap, while France’s Marine Lefeuvre settled for bronze. For Gabriela, it’s the 14th gold of her career!
Senior Men
The race started at a blistering pace. It was a very physical race, with constant battles for position. Chen Yangchen of Chinese Taipei tried a breakaway, but the field had it under control keeping the right pace. Once Chen was back in the peloton, with two laps to go, his teammate Teu Cheng Chao launched another attack. At two laps to go a crash between Martin Ferrie and Raul Pedraza leaved only Colombia’s Juan Mantilla and Chinese Taipei’s Cheng to skate the last lap. Juan Mantilla won easily and behind him Tsu-Cheng Chao for the silver. The bronze medal went to Chile with Raul Pedraza.
