The second day of the Road World Championships took place on the 500m circuit featuring several curves and a long straightaway. This type of course made the races very technical, where only the most skilled athletes could truly shine. The program included the 10k points races for both Juniors and Seniors, while the 1 Lap race was reserved for the Junior category. Tomorrow, it will be the Seniors’ turn.
In the Junior Women’s 10,000m Points, Colombia immediately tried to control the pace, collecting as many points as possible from the start. France’s Maiwenn Julou also managed to get into the fight for points, but every attack from other teams was quickly shut down. The course seemed perfectly suited to the Colombians, who secured both gold and silver, while Julou claimed bronze.
In the Junior Men’s race, the pace was high right from the beginning, stretching the group into a single line. Different nations took turns at the front, but one constant remained: Ecuador’s Joaquin Loyola Cavalieri. Midway through the race, he pushed forward to form a leading group with Italy’s Giorgio Ghisio Erba and Colombia’s Janier Camacho. Ghisio collected important points, and with two laps to go the lead group was caught, opening the door for another Italian, Gioele Citterio, to grab the final points. In the end, Loyola Cavalieri confirmed himself as World Champion, with silver and bronze going to the Italians Ghisio Erba and Citterio.
The Senior Women’s race was intense from the start. Gabriela Rueda looked strong early on, but the group refused to give away points easily—over fifteen skaters scored during the race. The difference came in the final laps, when France’s Marine Lefeuvre raised the pace, collecting crucial points. China’s Guo Dan also managed a breakaway that earned her enough to reach the podium. The title was decided only in the final sprint: Marine Lefeuvre, already a specialist with titles at the World Games and 2024 World Skate Games, secured gold. Silver went to Germany’s Larissa Gaiser thanks to her last-lap sprint, and bronze to home favorite Guo Dan.
The Senior Men’s race brought 40 skaters to the line for a high-speed showdown, averaging an impressive 43 km/h despite the technical course. Spain’s veteran Patxi Peula earned early points, while midway through Daniel Niero of Italy attempted a breakaway, only to be reeled back by the peloton. Points were distributed among many contenders, with Paraguay’s Julio Mirena Ortiz and Colombia’s Juan Mantilla always in the mix. With seven laps to go, a decisive move came from Korea’s Joyang Bang, Portugal’s Miguel Bravo, and Mantilla. The attack worked, and Mantilla secured the most points to take the world title, ahead of Ortiz in silver and Peula in bronze.
The evening closed with the high-speed Junior 1 Lap D Final. In the Women’s race, Italy’s Sofia Paola Chiumiento had a blazing start, but Colombia’s Maria Maldonado and Gisell Caicedo quickly countered. In the final straight, Sofia launched a comeback sprint, overtaking Maldonado but narrowing too much in her lane. The jury applied the rules, relegating her to third. Maldonado claimed gold, Caicedo silver, and Chiumiento bronze.
In the Men’s race, Germany’s Maurice Marosi powered to the front, but in a thrilling finish the Colombian sprinter launched from behind with an incredible burst of speed to snatch the victory. Marosi took silver, while India’s Anish Raj confirmed his rising international status with a strong bronze.
