The marathon races were held on a 16.7 km circuit, with a total of 2.5 laps. The course featured long straights, two roundabouts, and wide roads that offered plenty of space for overtakes and high speed.
The women’s race lit up right from the start. Colombia dictated the pace of the marathon and there weren’t real attempts of breakaways. With at least 700 meters to go, Hsuan started an impressive sprint with behind the other three skaters from Chinese Taipei, with the power of her double-push simply left everyone behind to claim a fabulous victory. Pei-Yu Shih and Meng-Chi Li followed, completing an all–Chinese Taipei podium. For Hsuan it’s the second gold at the Marathon World Championships, the first one happened in 2016!
The men’s race featured several breakaway attempts, the most promising coming around the 50-minute mark when Daniel Niero, Italy, and Juan Cruz Livolsi, Argentina, managed to escape. They held their lead until just 1.5 km from the finish, when the peloton reeled them back in. The race was decided in a massive bunch sprint, with India’s Anandkumar Velkumar powering to a historic victory. Kevin Lenis and Juan Mantilla, both from Colombia, completed the podium.
With the marathons, the curtain came down on the 2025 World Championships in Beidahie. Days of racing that brought unforgettable performances, new champions, and historic firsts: from India’s breakthrough victories to Chinese Taipei’s sweep of the women’s marathon podium. Colombia once again confirmed its strength and the first position on the Medal Table with 42 golds, while many other nations also left their mark on the championships. Beyond the results, the event stood out for its excellent organization, the warm atmosphere, and the passion of the athletes and fans who filled Beidahie with the spirit of world-class skating.
