World Skate President Sabatino Aracu met in Lausanne - the world's sports capital - with Paraguay's Head of State Santiago Peña, who led the delegation composed of Paraguayan Olympic Committee President and IOC member Camilo Pérez López Moreira, and Sports Minister César Ramírez.

The meeting's agenda included the formal presentation of Paraguay's candidacy to host the World Skate Games 2026.

In the wake of the extraordinary success of the 2024 World Skate Games in Italy, which saw the participation of 12,000 athletes from 90 countries with some tens of thousands of supporters, generating an economic impact on the country (as certified by an international agency) of more than 430 million euros, Paraguay's candidacy demonstrates the growing global appeal of the World Skate Games, both as a sporting showcase and as an economic catalyst for the host countries, in line with World Skate's mission to expand the reach of its sports while creating lasting legacies.

Paraguay's bid emphasizes not only state-of-the-art competition infrastructures, but also programs to further promote urban sports among youth and develop sports tourism in the region.

The Paraguayan delegation emphasized how the candidacy is strengthened by Paraguay's recent successes in securing major international sporting events, including the 2025 Pan American Youth Games in Asunción, and the bid to host the 2031 Pan American Games and the 2030 Youth Olympic Games, with the same Team of Professionals that would manage the World Skate Games.

During the meeting, President Peña expressed his country's firm commitment to staging a world-class event.

The International Federation reaffirms its willingness to select the bid that will not only provide an exceptional experience to athletes and spectators, but also contribute to the sustainable growth of the sports worldwide.
