The World Skate Executive Board convened on December 10, 2025, to review a successful 2024 and chart the course for another ambitious year ahead.

President Sabatino Aracu opened the meeting by thanking board members and Continental Presidents for their commitment during what he called "a strategic year" following the success of Paris 2024 and the World Skate Games Italy 2024.

Financial Strength and Stability

Secretary General Roberto Marotta presented the 2026 Budget, which was unanimously approved by the board. Contingency and risk management funds have been incorporated to ensure long-term financial stability as World Skate continues expanding its global footprint.

Continental Reports Highlight Global Growth

Continental Presidents reported on 2025 achievements and outlined 2026 priorities:

Oceania is consolidating artistic skating and scootering events with strong youth development investment. Brisbane will host the 2026 Artistic Seminar & Skate Camp with excellent participation expected.

America saw high participation in continental championships with strategic focus on youth and junior categories. The continent is developing skateboarding, roller freestyle, and scootering in preparation for the Pan American Games 2027.

Asia celebrated a highly successful year marked by major international events. 2026 will see the launch of the Asian Skateboarding Championships and strong focus on the Nagoya 2026 Asian Games.

Europe delivered an outstanding season with 29 continental competitions, including the first-ever European Scootering Championship.

Africa is reorganizing continental activities with key events planned for 2026 and the debut of Skateboarding (Street) at the Youth Olympic Games Dakar 2026.

One Unified Institution

President Aracu emphasized that World Skate's future depends on its identity as one unified institution based on shared responsibility and full alignment between Continental Areas and central administration. Key priorities include uniform organizational and branding standards across all events, strategic use of central expertise in marketing and communication, and continuous dialogue between the Presidency and Continental leadership.

World Skate Games 2026 Confirmed for Asunción

The board confirmed that the fifth edition of the World Skate Games will take place in Asunción, Paraguay, from October 2-18, 2026. The event will serve as the flagship global competition for all 12 World Skate disciplines. The President reaffirmed the importance of strict compliance with qualification regulations—particularly for team sports—to safeguard the integrity and value of continental competitions.

Regulations Approved Across Multiple Disciplines

The Executive Board unanimously approved updated regulations for nine disciplines and event formats: Speed Track Series World Cup Final, World Skate Marathon Tour, Inline Freestyle World Ranking, Skate Cross, Scootering, Roller Freestyle, Inline Slalom, Inline Hockey, and Roller Derby. All amendments were presented through the Changes Control Management framework.

Digital Growth and Brand Consolidation

A Communication Report presented to the board revealed significant digital engagement growth of +3150% between 2022 and 2025. Additional achievements include consolidation of unified World Skate brand identity, expansion of World Skate TV, and the launch of a full redesign of the institutional website.

Looking Ahead: Adaptive Sport Recognition

The need for formal statutory recognition of adaptive sport was raised during the meeting. President Aracu confirmed that statutory amendments related to adaptive sport will be a key item on the next Congress agenda, marking another step toward World Skate's commitment to inclusivity.

The meeting also approved a self-certification procedure for Russian and Belarusian athletes as an alternative to the Sportradar process, simplifying administrative procedures and reducing costs for athletes.

As World Skate moves into 2026 with strong finances, unified governance, and an exciting global event calendar, the federation continues building on the momentum of Paris 2024 and the successful World Skate Games Italy 2024—positioning roller sports for continued growth on the world stage.
