World Skate and STU partner up to hold 2025 World Championships in São Paulo!

Between March 1 and 8, Cândido Portinari Park will host the world’s leading national and international skateboarders in a truly historic gathering.

For the first time ever, São Paulo will stage a Skateboarding World Championship in both Street and Park—the two Olympic disciplines of skateboarding—alongside a dedicated Adaptive Skateboarding competition, underscoring inclusion as a core value of the sport. Approximately 400 athletes from across the globe are expected to compete, showcasing the very best of contemporary skateboarding.

The renewed partnership between World Skate, the international governing body for Olympic skateboarding, and STU further reinforces Brazil’s status as a global skateboarding powerhouse. This collaboration continues to elevate skateboarding as both a cultural movement and a high-performance sport, positioning São Paulo as a true international epicenter.

Sabatino Aracu, President of World Skate, stated:

“After seven years, we are proud to bring an official World Skate event back to Brazil with a World Championship of this magnitude. This return represents more than just competition—it is recognition of Brazil’s fundamental role in shaping global skateboarding culture and producing Olympic champions who inspire millions.

São Paulo becomes the stage for skateboarding’s most prestigious gathering, bringing together the world’s top athletes across both Olympic disciplines. Following five years of successful World Skateboarding Tour stops in the UAE, Switzerland, Argentina, Italy, and Japan, this championship reaffirms Brazil’s position at the very heart of our sport.

Through our renewed partnership with the local organizing committee, we are not only celebrating today’s skateboarding excellence, but also building a clear pathway toward the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, with the objective of once again hosting Olympic qualification events in Brazil. This championship marks Brazil’s return to the international spotlight—an achievement reflecting the nation’s extraordinary contribution to the global evolution of skateboarding and its undeniable status as a world powerhouse.”

For Diogo Castelão, founder of STU, hosting the championship represents a defining moment for Brazilian skateboarding:

“We are very happy to be making history again in partnership with World Skate. There will be two World Championships held simultaneously in São Paulo, and the first Paraskate World Cup. Together, we will collaborate on a very powerful cycle for Los Angeles 28, because we believe, and the last two Olympics reinforce this, that skateboarding is now one of the main sporting entertainments in the world. This partnership also reaffirms Brazil’s position as a powerhouse on the international skateboarding scene. More than a championship, it is the celebration of a culture that breaks boundaries, connects communities, and transforms lives every day."

The results of the Skateboarding World Championship will directly impact the international ranking for both men and women, offering an early indication of the athletes most likely to emerge as Olympic favorites on the road to Los Angeles 2028.
