With a city preparing to spin to the rhythm of global sport, Paraguay officially presented the World Skate Games ASU26 — the largest international event dedicated to wheeled sports — which is to be held in Asunción from October 2 to 18, 2026.
The presentation took place at the Medallist Hall of the Paraguayan Olympic Committee, where national authorities, international sports leaders, athletes, and representatives of the sports ecosystem gathered to mark the beginning of the journey toward a competition which will transform the country into the global hub for wheeled sports.
The first launch event was attended by the President of the Republic of Paraguay, Santiago Peña, along with national sports authorities including the Minister and Executive Secretary of the National Sports Secretariat, César Ramírez Caje; the President of the Paraguayan Olympic Committee, Camilo Pérez López Moreira; sports officials and representatives of World Skate—the global governing body for these disciplines and an associated federation of the International Olympic Committee—led by president, Sabatino Aracu.

During the event, Paraguayan athletes with international experience delivered demonstrations of some of the disciplines featured in the championship- bringing to the stage the essence of these sports: spinning, rolling, sliding, accelerating, defying gravity, and transforming urban space into a playing field.
Showcases included artistic roller skating, skateboarding, and inline hockey, offering a preview of the creativity and speed which define wheel sports.
As the evening progressed, the concept that will accompany ASU26 throughout the year was unveiled: “United by Wheels,” a message that captures the spirit of a global community united through sport, where cultures, generations, and cities meet on the same path—on wheels.

Asunción’s colours infuse the World Skate Games!
One of the evening’s highlights was the unveiling of the official visual identity of the World Skate Games ASU26, inspired by the landscapes, colours, and urban symbols which form the fabric of everyday life in Asunción.
The graphic proposal draws from the greens of urban nature, the vivid pinks of blooming lapacho trees, the greys and whites of roads and the city, and the deep oranges of sunsets over the Paraguay River; a palette which translates the essence of the Paraguayan capital and puts forward a powerful idea.
ASU26 — the event which will make the city roll!
Since its inaugural edition in Nanjing (2017), followed by Barcelona (2019), Buenos Aires (2022), and Italy (2024), the World Skate Games have established themselves as the premier global gathering for wheel sports.
The World Skate Games is the multi-sport event that awards more world titles than any other — 154 world titles across a single edition — with the highest number of competing athletes of any event organised by a single sports federation, and the largest multi-sport gathering by athlete participation in the world after the Olympic Games.
Over 10,000 accredited participants from more than 100 countries are expected.
In 2026, the event returns to South America, taking place in Asunción from October 2–18, positioning Paraguay as a regional youth culture hub and placing it firmly on the international stage — this time with urban and speed wheeled sports taking centre stage.
More than a competition, the World Skate Games is a festival for the entire city: music, fan-fests, activations, and shared experiences which open the Games to every resident- not just sports fans.
A celebration which will take over Paraguay and bring the energy of youth culture to every corner of Asunción, our extravaganza will bring together 12 sports, one e-sport, and 22 world championships- offering a dynamic program which combines speed, technique, creativity, and spectacle — qualities that make wheeled sports one of the most compelling offerings for audiences, especially younger generations.

World Skate President Sabatino Aracu:
“Sport is health. Sport is tourism. Sport is the vision of a country. What we are witnessing here is a nation where everyone from the President of the Republic to the President of the Olympic Committee, has put their face behind this project, for the entire country. Not every country does that. The World Skate Games will award 154 world titles, bringing together juniors and seniors, women and men, all under the same roof. It will be a festival of youth, one that the entire country can experience and be proud of. A country that is building its future. We have a united team, and together we will work to make this event a shared success.”
Paraguayan Olympic Committee President Camilo Pérez:
“The scale of dedication behind this event is remarkable, so many people working with passion and commitment. For a small country, Paraguay has shown extraordinary sporting values. I want to thank World Skate President Sabatino Aracu and President Santiago Peña for their trust and partnership. The presence of the President of the Republic speaks volumes about the commitment we have to our young people and to their future. This is not just a sporting event; it is an investment in the fabric of our society.”
President Republic of Paraguay Santiago Peña:
“Skate teaches us that what matters is not the fall it’s always getting back up with dignity. It is a great pride for us that Paraguay and Asunción will be the center of the skate world. Nine years ago, I came to this very place, at this very time of year, to inaugurate it. This Olympic park had been abandoned, yet there was an incredible project waiting to come to life. I grew up with sport, and it is where I learned my values. I also tasted the bitter side of defeat. This Olympic park is a tremendous source of pride, not just for the Americas, but for the entire world. Everything has grown so much in these nine years. In January 2025, we met with Sabatino Aracu and committed to this mission together. We are certain that when these Games come to a close in October, they will be the greatest ever organized anywhere in the world. We want to showcase the infrastructure, the hospitality, and the organizational capacity of a country that is looking to the future. This year will be full of emotion. It will be a festival of youth, and we will also discover the talent that Paraguay’s own athletes have to offer.”

The World Skate Games is an event built for youth, being both urban and sustainable, not just in terms of environmental footprint, but in economic impact.
The sports program will include urban disciplines such as Skateboarding (Park, Street, and Vert), Roller Freestyle (Vert, Park, and Street), and Scootering (Park and Street); speed and adrenaline sports including Downhill (Inline, Skateboarding, and Street Luge) and Slalom (Inline and Skateboarding); as well as the speed, skill, and technique category featuring Skate Cross, Inline Freestyle, and Speed (Track, Road, and Marathon); team sports including Inline Hockey, Rink Hockey, and Roller Derby; the artistic discipline of Artistic Roller Skating; and an e-sport format.

Competitions will take place across multiple venues, including the Paraguayan Olympic Committee, the National Sports Secretariat, the Asunción Costanera, as well as the cities of Paraguarí and Altos.
The arrival of the World Skate Games in Paraguay marks a key step in positioning the country as a host of major international sporting events, strengthening the development of urban sports, athlete training, and the projection of national talent on the global stage.
In October 2026, when athletes from around the world begin rolling through the tracks and streets of the country, Asunción will not only host the Games, it will be the rendezvous point where the world meets to roll together: United by Wheels!
