Just days after the thrilling World Skate Games Italia 2024 Park event, the world’s top Roller Freestyle athletes gathered again, this time at the iconic Colle Oppio Skatepark, set against the stunning backdrop of the Colosseum in Rome, for the highly anticipated Roller Freestyle Street World Championship.

In the Junior Women’s Final, Chile’s Leonor Toy took center stage, delivering a performance that left no doubt about her talent. With technical grinds and smooth style, Leonor outshined the competition to claim the title of World Champion. Fresh off her Park victory, France’s Lilou Fumery pushed hard with her own unique blend of tricks but had to settle for second place. Italy’s Amelie Pogaceanu was skating “at home” and excited the local crowd, earning a well-deserved third place on the podium.

The Junior Men’s Final saw Spain’s Alex Fernandez once again dominate the field, following his commanding Park win with another gold in the Street event. His powerful combination of technical grinds and spins in a smooth line left his competitors trailing. Poland’s Michael Pietrzak impressed with a bold, aggressive style and had a lot of local crowd support, but had to settle for second place. Chile’s Santiago Osses put in a strong performance to secure third.

As the evening set in, the Women’s Final kicked off, and Brazil’s roller freestyle stars delivered once more. Ana Julia, the Park silver medalist, took the top spot in Street with a brilliant display of fluid lines and impeccable grinds that earned her the gold medal. Her fellow Brazilian, Nicolly Machado, the reigning Park champion, followed closely in second place. After a hard fall on her first run, she was able to put together a clean second run filled with fast and technical skating. Japan’s Misaki Katayama earned third place after a solid run, showcasing her precision but missing the flawless execution needed to challenge the Brazilians.

The Men’s Final, the most eagerly awaited event of the day, did not disappoint. France’s Julien Cudot, already crowned Park champion, delivered another legendary performance in the Street competition, becoming the first skater in history to win both Park and Street World Championship titles in the same year. Julien’s mind-blowing tricks, including a disaster 450 backside Savannah, left the crowd in awe and secured him the gold. Brazil’s Danilo Senna took second place with his impressive back-to-back spin-to-grind tricks, while Latvia’s Nils Jansons finished third, impressing with his creative style and smooth execution.

As the event wrapped up at the historic Colle Oppio Skatepark, the 2024 Roller Freestyle Street World Championships cemented Julien Cudot’s status as a dual champion, raising anticipation for his future in the sport.
