After a week of games, Portugal revalidates the title of U20 European Champion for the 4th time in a row. Once again, Spain lost the final getting the silver medal. The bronze medal goes to France which defeated Italy in the final for the 3rd and 4th place.
It's the same podium of the previous edition of the U20 European Championship in 2012 in Saint Omer (France).
The final match between Spain and Portugal was played in the "Pavilhao Municipale" of Valongo in front of 1.500 spectators, the maximum that the venue can contain and was the most exciting of the whole championship. Jordy Burgaya scored the first goal for Spain, but in the last minutes of the first half, Portugal overturned the result: the spanish player Roger Presas got a blue card and Miguel Vieira drawn the match. A few seconds after, Luis Melo scored again and the Portugal closed the first half ahead 2-1. At the beginning of the second half Joao Almeida scored again for Portugal (3-1). The second goal of Spain was scored at 44" from the end of the match, thanks to the penalty shooted by Ferrant Font. The match ended 3-2 for Portugal.
In the final for the 3rd place, France won Italy and got the bronze medal. The french team scored twice in the first minutes of the game and, even if Italy attacked all match long, only scored once ad lost the match 2-1.
The next edition of the U20 European Championship (the number 50) will be held in Pully (Switzerland) from 23 to 29 October 2016.
