Following the excitement of the World Skate Games Italia 2024 Street and Park events, the world’s elite Roller Freestyle athletes reconvened for another thrilling showdown, this time at a purpose-built Vert ramp perched on the stunning Terrazza del Pincio in Rome. With its breathtaking views over the city, this venue provided the perfect setting for the highly anticipated Roller Freestyle Vert World Championship.
In the Women’s Final, Japan’s Kaho Miyao stole the spotlight, delivering a flawless performance packed with high airs, precise spins, and seamless transitions that left no doubt about her dominance. Kaho’s powerful yet elegant style earned her the title of World Champion. Hot on her heels was fellow Japanese skater Sorachi Kawasaki, who showcased her own boosted airs and spins, finishing in second place. Spain’s Carlin Martin rounded out the podium, impressing the judges with her smooth lines and an array of flips and spins.
In the Men’s Final, Japan continued its reign over the competition as Takeshi Yasutoko, a legend in the Vert world, claimed his second world title in a row. His towering airs, flawless double flips, spins, and unmatched control over the ramp dazzled the crowd, securing him the gold medal. The 13-year-old Haruhi Shimizu, also from Japan, delivered a strong and consistent performance, landing a series of complex spins and grinds to take second place. Spain’s Abel Morales put up a fierce fight with tricks such as double flatspins and rocket 540s, all executed with super clean style, earning him the third spot on the podium.
As the event came to a close at the picturesque Terrazza del Pincio, the 2024 Roller Freestyle Vert World Championships capped off an unforgettable week of competition in Rome. With Takeshi Yasutoko and Kaho Miyao leading the charge, Japan’s dominance in the Vert competition was undeniable.
